The big catch up!!

Wow!  It has been nearly 7 months since my last post!  opps!  I really need to get better about blogging more regularly, especially since I hope to publish this blog into a book one day!  Modern day scrapbook!  So, I intend to take full advantage of Aaron and the kids being gone for the next 8 days and catch up since my last post!   They are in MN staying with Grandma Peggy and Elsa will be doing a Farm Adventures Camp at Gale Wood Farms.  I have made a HUGE to-do list (mostly centered around finishing my 40 bags in 40 days….which is going to turn into 40 bags in 40 months if I don't get to it!)  Right now I am giddy just thinking about it, but I know when tomorrow comes around I am going to want them back.  Who am I kidding.  I miss them like crazy and wish they were home right now! I don't do well being in my house alone, let alone for 8 days!

I will probably back date most of the posts, so everything is organized and in order.  One thing I don't have to back date is the major happening of the week.   Aaron and I had planned to escape up to Door County for a few days this week.  Since I was on call last weekend when he turned the Big 4-0, I told him I would take a few days off so we could do a getaway.  Just the two of us.  We stayed at Blacksmith Inn in Baileys Harbor.  It is on the quieter side of Door County, which suites our taste just fine.  We had plans to golf, wine taste, go running, go hiking, enjoy some fine dining sans kids….ahh, the makings of a perfect vacation.    Then, our plans were thwarted.  We got a call from Peggy stating that Chet fell off the bed and she thought he may have broken his wrist.  WHATT??!!!  First he lost a tooth from trauma, then he went to the ER in february due to falling off of our coffee table and sustained a closed head injury, and now this??!!  So, she took him to the ER where they confirmed a fracture.  He actually fractured both his radius and ulna!

They said the swelling needed to go down and then he would need a cast.  Poor lil guy!   Here is him in his soft splint.

Of course, after hearing this, we tried to enjoy our trip, but ended up coming back early.  I want to be with my babies when they are hurt!  Fortunately, the orthopedic surgeon we took him to decided to continue the splint (just a different type) and not do a hard cast.  He said that kids this age often will shove objects down the cast and then, when they go to remove the cast one month later, they find all these objects with ulcers due to the pressure.   Chet has been doing really well with his splint.  He is learning how to manage.  Thankfully, kids heal fast and it was his left arm!  Smart Cow is also really good and helping with the healing process.

But, I do fully intend to wrap Chet in bubble wrap from now on!
